OUR EXPERTISE
At MJC Passive Fire Ltd, we’re proud to provide a wide range of Fire Door and Carpentry services across Plymouth, Devon, and the wider South West. From initial surveys and consultations to installations, repairs, and ongoing planned maintenance, we offer everything needed to meet your compliance and safety requirements — whether you're based in Plymouth, Exeter, Torbay, Truro, or surrounding areas.

PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION
At MJC Passive Fire, our team brings decades of combined experience across the passive fire protection and carpentry sectors. Our staff have undertaken extensive formal training, examinations, and hands‑on compliance work throughout their careers, building a strong foundation of technical competence and industry understanding.
Members of our team have previously worked within organisations accredited under schemes such as BM TRADA and FIRAS, with two team members having held those qualifications while employed by former companies. As is standard across the industry, scheme certifications are held by the employer and cannot be transferred. All references to previous schemes relate solely to individual experience and do not imply current company certification under those schemes. However, the skills, technical knowledge, and practical experience gained by the individuals are fully transferable, and our team continues to apply that expertise to every project we undertake.
Alongside this background, our team also holds the FDIS Diploma and UK Fire Door Training, providing a strong and current foundation of recognised fire‑door competence.
In addition to our passive fire protection expertise, we have the added strength of three fully qualified carpenters, each with decades of City & Guilds–level training and experience. This depth of carpentry knowledge means we not only understand the compliance and technical requirements of fire door installation and maintenance, but we also have the practical skillset to overcome structural issues, adapt to real‑world site conditions, and deliver high‑quality, durable workmanship. This combination of regulated fire‑door competence and traditional carpentry expertise ensures that every installation is both compliant and built to last.
We are now progressing through the TRADA route as a company. Our team has completed the required training and examinations and is awaiting our scheduled audit. Once this process is complete, we will update our website to reflect our certification status in full accordance with scheme rules and branding requirements. This marks a return to our roots, as one of our team members originally trained and qualified under the TRADA scheme many years ago. We have always regarded this pathway as the gold standard of fire door installation and maintenance, reflecting the level of competence, discipline, and best‑practice principles that we believe the industry should aspire to. This belief has guided our approach for many years, and we have consistently maintained, implemented, and upheld the standards, expectations, and professional conduct associated with this level of training throughout all compliance‑based works we undertake.
We specialise in supporting:
-
HMOs
-
Residential care homes

We use only high‑quality, fully regulated products and deliver installation, inspection, and maintenance services aligned with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety Act, and current UK Government guidance. Our focus is ensuring that your building remains safe, compliant, and protected in the event of a fire.
Upon completion of any fire door installation, you will receive a full Record of Installation (ROI) and all relevant supporting documentation.
We remain committed to maintaining high standards, working alongside respected industry professionals, and contributing to safer buildings and safer communities.
